General and Pediatric Otolaryngology - Ear, Nose & Throat Care

General Information (203) 785-2593

Yale Otolaryngology provides world-class care for diseases related to auditory function, speech and swallowing behavior, taste and oral pain syndromes, progression of sinonasal inflammatory disease, and head and neck cancer.

The Section of Otolaryngology is composed of otolaryngologists and a highly skilled support staff including speech pathologists and audiologists. All physicians are board certified in ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgery.

As part of the Yale Cancer Center, the Yale Head and Neck Services team offers expert care for tumors of the skull base and other malignancies of the head and neck. A collaborative approach with other disciplines such as plastic surgery, dermatology, radiation therapy, oncology and oral surgery offers the most effective treatment options for diseases affecting the nose, sinuses, larynx and pharynx and for maxillo-facial injuries.

The Yale Allergy and Sinus Program is a multidisciplinary service offered by ENT specialists and allergists. A dedicated ENT subspecialist concentrates exclusively on the treatment of pediatric otolaryngology cases. These children are cared for in the Pediatric Specialty Center and Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.

The Communication Disorders Center provides complete services for patients with disorders of speech, hearing and balance. An active hearing rehabilitation program includes the most current audiologic testing techniques available along with the latest developments in hearing aid technology. Speech-language pathology services include comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative techniques for stroke, voice disorders, laryngectomy and swallowing disorders.

Among special services offered by this section are the following:

Functional and cosmetic facial plastic surgery

External and middle ear surgery

Surgery of benign and malignant tumors of the nose, sinuses, larynx and pharynx

Surgical treatment of maxillo-facial injuries

Diagnostic and therapeutic broncho-esophagology

Surgery of the skull base
