Yale-New haven Hospital is the regional Level 1 Trauma Center for Southern Connecticut. YNHH is accredited by both the American College of Surgeons and the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health. The Trauma Service manages approximately 3000 trauma victims per year with over 2000 admissions. Cutting edge trauma care is provided by expert attending trauma surgeons who remain in-house 24 hours a day, and who immediately respond to all major trauma codes. In addition, these surgeons provide comprehensive and continuous care to all trauma patients from admission to discharge.
The Trauma Service accepts many transferred patients with severe injuries through transfer agreements with most hospitals in the southern tier of Connecticut. The Section is involved, together with the Section of Emergency Medicine, in a variety of injury prevention and community out-reach programs. To maintain the highest standards of care, the Section has an extensive multi-disciplinary Quality Improvement system.
To transfer a trauma patient to YNHH, please call 1-800-285-7775.
