Patient Care

Emergency General Surgery Program

The Section is specialized in the care of patients who present with acute surgical emergencies. Our Faculty provide around the clock in-house coverage and are therefore immediately available to attend to the patient. Our expert surgeons also provide a comprehensive post-operative care and critical care. In addition, the Section is developing clinical pathways and quality improvement activities designed to improve the quality of patient care as well as the throughput of the service with regard to general surgery (emergency and elective). New patients are seen and follow-up visits for established patients are conducted at our outpatient clinic.

The Surgical Emergencies Program is available to accept critically ill surgical patients from regional hospitals, and will provide tertiary care and expertise in surgical critical care to the patients of Southern Connecticut.
