Members of Yale Vascular Surgery practice within the Yale Vascular Center. This multidisciplinary center serves as a regional resource for comprehensive vascular management, providing care to patients with a broad spectrum of vascular problems, including those related to atherosclerosis.

In addition to vascular surgery, specialists from cardiology, nephrology, interventional radiology, endocrinology, rheumatology, anesthesiology, plastic surgery, neurology and neurosurgery collaborate to provide a thorough approach to the patient's disease, facilitating comprehensive evaluations and state-of-the-art, individualized treatment.

Examples of common diagnoses for which patients are referred to the Yale Vascular Center include: peripheral arterial disease; essential hypertension; hyperlipidemia; diabetes-related vascular disease; cerebrovascular disease; aortic arch disease; thoracic, abdominal and extremity aneurysms; renovascular disease; visceral vascular disease; venous disease; portal hypertension; and lymphatic disease. Comprehensive risk-factor evaluation and reduction, including lipid management and diet counseling are also offered at the center.

In addition to specific areas of interest, each member of the Vascular Surgery Center has expertise in the comprehensive management of general vascular problems.

Special services offered by this section include treatment for:

  • Renal vascular disease and complex hypertension
  • Infra-inguinal occlusive disease, including distal disease in diabetics
  • Complex aneurysm disease of the aorta, including thoracic, thoraco-abdominal and supra-renal
  • Complicated portal hypertension
  • Complex wounds
  • Aortic arch and cerebrovascular occlusive disease
